“Defa Orient” Winter Relief Campaign for North IDPs’ Camps

As winter of 2018 intensified, most camps in the north of Syria were affected by rain and mudslides, rendering some camps in critical need of aid. Orient for Human Relief responded promptly by launching several campaigns, the latest of which was “Defa Orient,” where essential winter relief items were distributed to IDPs.

Items Distributed in the Winter Campaign

The Winter Campaign lasted for a number of days, which helped cover tens of affected camps. Essential items were supplied, which include: nearly /50,000/ Kg of pyrene coal; more than /100/ heaters, with all accessories for their installment; in addition to many blankets, and plastic insulators which protect tents from flooding, in coordination with camps’ supervisors.
OHR staff worked to load, unload, and distribute the supplies, and IDPs assisted in installing the heaters and starting them.

Camps Medical Services

Alongside the relief campaigns was Orient Mobile Clinic, which is equipped with a medical staff of doctors and nurses to provide first aid in camps, with a focus on women and children affected by cold and malnutrition. A wide range of medication and nutrition supplements were distributed to those in need.

Meanwhile, Orient Medical Assembly in Idlib, and Orient Diagnostic Center continued to provide their services to patients free-of-charge, and maintained coordination with relief campaigns to respond to critical cases that needed special attention.
